Obituary for William Henry Forsyth William Henry Forsyth William Henry Forsyth, age 103, of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Miami Shores, died Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Lee Wood Forsyth. He is survived by daughters Marcia Forsyth O’Connor (husband Charles) of Gainesville, GA and Donna Forsyth Wilt (husband Dennis) of Sebastian, FL; four grandchildren Charles Franklin Wilt (wife Crystal) of Melbourne FL, Elizabeth Anne Wilt Deming (husband Brent) of Melbourne FL, Kathleen O’Connor Keen (husband Paul) of Groton MA and Brian Forsyth O’Connor (wife Elisabeth) of Huntsville AL; also three great-grandchildren Caroline Forsyth Keen, Alison Margaret Keen and Avery Charles O’Connor.

William was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 22, 1914, son of Lesley Easton Forsyth and Marguerite Shepherd. In 1923, at the age of 9, he moved with his family to Florida City, Florida. He attended University of Florida where he lettered in basketball, was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1937.

He and Virginia were married in 1950 and lived in Miami Shores where they raised their two daughters. He worked in aircraft maintenance and engineering for Eastern Airlines at Miami International Airport until his retirement in 1979. Since 1999, he has lived at John Knox Village of Pompano Beach.

He was a long-time member of Miami Shores Community Church where for many years he volunteered his skills to help with building maintenance. His genealogy research was extensive and he was a member of the Mayflower Society and the Sons of the American Revolution. He also had a life-long love of travel to places both near and far.

The family wishes to give special thanks to his caregivers at John Knox Village, including William’s long-time aide Shirley Mohorn, whose kindness and generosity have been a blessing to all of his family. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5 2018, beginning at 12 noon at Miami Shores Community Church, followed by a funeral service at the church at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Southern Memorial Park cemetery in North Miami, Florida.
