William Howard Atkinson, 90, of Everett, PA , passed away at 5:15 AM , Sunday, June 17th, 2018 at home with his wife by his side, ending their 30 year union. Mr. Atkinson was born in Wheeling, Ohio County, WV, on August 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Willam Faris and Ruth (Curtis) Atkinson. He graduated from Triadelphia High School in Wheeling, West Virginia, served in the Navy in 1945 and 1946 in China.

He graduated for West Virginia University in 1950, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a 50 year member of Ohio Lodge #1 A. F. and A. M. and 50 year member of Scottish Rite Bodies of Wheeling, West Virginia, 50 year member of BPO Elks, member of Wheeling Post #1, American Legion and life member of Post 2088 VFW, Everett, Pennsylvania and a charter member of ELBA. Mr. Atkinson spent most of his time employed in the dairy industry.

He was past President for Tri-State Sanitarians Association, past President of Tri-State Dairy Technology Association of Pittsburgh, Chairman of Awards Committee of Pennsylvania Milk Sanitarians Association, and a director in Bedford R.E.C. He was employed by Graveness Dairy, Wheeling West Virginia, Chief of dairy section of the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, was a representative of the American Dairy Association and retired after 20 years with Atlantic Dairy Cooperative. He was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, Pennsylvania, where he served as an usher and greeter.

Past President of Wheeling – Ohio Chapter WWI Alumni. Mr. Atkinson was an avid golfer an enjoyed his Chihuahua, Shorty, was a loving and attentive husband and had a smile and compliment for everyone he met. He will be sadly missed.

He was the best husband, father and friend you could ever have. He was the husband of Linda (Albright) Atkinson, whom he married on July 21, 2001. In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Terry Lynn wife of William Herman, Wheeling, WV; Daughter- Christine wife of Michael Martin, Purcellville, VA; Daughter- Karen wife of Christopher Hart, Ashburn, VA; Step Daughter- Erin wife of Todd Diehl, Manns Choice; Step Daughter- Melanie Shaw, Rainsburg.

He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Christopher & Daniel Herman, and Emily & Sarah Anne Hart, and 7 step grandchildren-Maura, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Taylor, Emily, Madylin, & Elaina. William was preceded in death by his first wife Janice(Stocking) Atkinson, and an infant brother. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford, PA.

at 11: 00 AM on Thursday, June 21st, 2018 with Pastor Raymond Short officiating. Interment at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends are invited to call Wednesday 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, and at the church from 10:30 – 11:00 AM.
