William “Will” Lee Filson, 46, of Newton died on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, at the VFW in Newton. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.

Will, the son of Larry and Carol (Albertson) Filson, was born on November 20, 1971 in Newton. He attended Newton Schools before receiving his GED and taking classes at DMACC. Will was a jack of all trades and had worked as a brick layer, for Newton Roofing, and for Dodd’s Trash Hauling.

He loved all kinds of music, his favorite being KISS and playing his guitar. Will also was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, professional wrestling, and NASCAR. Those left to honor his memory are his children, Chris (Jamie) Lane of Casey, Aaron Lane of Des Moines, and Warren Lane of Des Moines; grandchildren, Aaron Lane, Jr. and Mercedes Lane and Jaeliegh, Ryder, and Claire Lane; his mother, Carol Filson of Grinnell; grandmother, Betty Albertson of Newton; his siblings, Diane Tucker of Arkansas, Helen Sutton of Newton, Larry (Jennifer) Filson of Illinois, and Starla Klingel of Grinnell; and his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Filson; grandfather, Earl Albertson II; uncle, Earl Albertson III; and a cousin, Rebecca Sanders.
