Obituary for William Leroy Jarvis Sr. William Leroy Jarvis, Sr. (Bill), 83, of Sams Road, Weaverville, after many years of failing health, went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on January 21, 2019. He was the son of the late James Clarence Jarvis, Sr. and Nancy Maude Clouse Jarvis. He was preceded in death by brothers; James and Jack Jarvis and sisters; Mary Powell, Ruth Dillingham and Eliza Norris as well as his daughter in law, Susan Penland Jarvis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Alma Lee Shelton Jarvis and four children; Patricia Schommer (Cliff), Leroy Jarvis, David Jarvis and Ruth Jarvis Allen (Danny Fender). Bill lived most of his life in Madison County. He was a member and deacon at Ivy Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Gideons International of Madison County where he spoke in many area churches on their behalf.

He worked at American Enka for 20 or more years but farming was his passion. He enjoyed bringing in a harvest of food and sharing with all. Bill enjoyed carpentry and was always lending a helping hand.

He went on several mission trips with his church family at Ivy Hill to build churches and homes in Honduras. He was a very talented man who could master pretty much anything he attempted. He wrote beautiful poems – just one of the many ways he witnessed for Jesus Christ.

Bill (Paw) will be truly missed by his wife, children, six grandchildren, and the light of his life; his eight great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 25, 2019 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Reverend Worth G. Emory and Pastor Scott Dotson, Sr. officiating.
