Obituary for William Marvin Akers William Marvin Akers, 56, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born September 7, 1962 to the late Lilly Akers, in Callands, Virginia. He worked for Mabe Trucking for over twenty years.

He was a wonderful husband and a very sweet man. Mr. Akers is survived by his wife, Brenda Morrison Akers; step-daughters, Varonica Hairston, and Stephanie Jones (Jermaine); sister Matlina Merriweather; six grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; three nephews, James “Baby Boy” Merriweather, James “Fat Cat” Merriweather, and Sherwin Akers; and cousins, Clevester Jones, Cozetta Jones and Milton Jones. The funeral will be Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 12 noon at Evangelical Holiness Church, with Elder Marvin Slade officiating.

The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be private. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
