William Paul Soost, age 97, passed away suddenly on December 30, 2018 at Wakemed Cary in Cary, North Carolina. A resident of Cary, NC, he spent most of his years in Pittsburgh. He was born in Wilkinsburg to the late Charles W. and Ina (Weibley) Soost on October 5, 1921.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores Dell Soost of 28 years, and his second wife Doris Link George, married 27 years. He was preceded in death by six siblings: Charles (Doris) Soost, Louise (Edward) Jacob, Edward… (Ann) Soost, Mary (John) McNavish, Martha (Donald) Gallagher, and Charlotte (James) McCullough. .

He had 17 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. He was a WWII veteran active as a corporal in the field artillery in the South Pacific. He served in the Guadalcanal Campaign as well as New Caledonia and the Philipines.

He attended The University of Pittsburgh earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and was employed in management and sales with Dun and Bradstreet in Pittsburgh for 32 years. In retirement, he was a treasurer for Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, a treasurer for McKinley Stuckrath Lodge #318, and a volunteer tax preparer for senior citizens.
