William’s Obituary PETERSTOWN, WV – William Scott “Scotty” Phipps, age 71, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, at the Heritage Hall nursing home in Rich Creek, VA. Born April 9, 1947, in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late Franklin Randolph “Randy” Phipps and Ruby Keith Mullins Phipps. Scotty was a retired serviceman for Appalachian Power.

He was a member of the Peterstown Christian Church and was a very active member of the local community. He served as a councilman on the Peterstown Town Council for more than 20 years, a midget league football coach from 1974-1990, a little league baseball coach from 1976-1990, and was always willing to help anyone in need. Additionally, Scotty was an antique car enthusiast and a member of the “Ridgeline” bluegrass band.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Franklin Phipps. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Connie Shrader Phipps; two sons, Brian Phipps and wife Christy of Summersville, WV, and Sean Phipps and wife Roseann of Peterstown, WV; one brother, Greg Phipps and wife Karen of Princeton, WV; one sister, Darlene Brewer of Princeton, WV; three grandchildren, Caden, Sydney, and Bryson Phipps; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 6:00 PM on Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Minister Don Henegar and Pastor Dana Gatewood officiating.

Caden, Sydney, and Bryson Phipps will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Online guestbook can be signed or condolences may be sent to the family at www.
