Obituary of William Hefferan William (Bill) James Hefferan, 70, of Lemont Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at UPMC Pittsburgh. He was born on August 4, 1948 in Philipsburg PA to William E. Hefferan and Anna S. Adams Hefferan. He was married to Cynthia (Cindy) Ishler Hefferan of Munson PA, who survives him.

Bill and Cindy were together as a couple for over 50 years and enjoyed 46 years of marriage and friendship together. In addition to his wife, Cindy, he is survived by his son, Matthew William Hefferan and his wife Alina Eldred of Falls Church VA and their three children William, Juliana and Lauren Marie Hefferan. He is also survived by his daughter Anna Hefferan Anderson, her husband, Mike Anderson and their two children Sophia and Adam James Anderson.

Bill was proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives. His sister Joanne Moore of New Brunswick, ME and her spouse James Moore and his sister-in-law, Myra Hefferan also survive him as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Hefferan.

Bill graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola High School in 1966. He attended Gannon University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1970. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Theta Iota Chapter.

He served in the Army and then transitioned to the Reserve / National Guard where he achieved the rank of Major. He was the Company Commander of the Combat Support Companies in Altoona and Lewistown. Bill spent most of his professional career as a Grocery Store Manager and Assistant Manager with Acme and Giant Grocery stores throughout the Central Pennsylvania.

He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in State College, PA. He spent much of his free time outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time at his camp near Prince Gallitzin State Park and was often fly fishing or building campfires in his fire pit.

When not water or camp side he was found watching major league baseball games and managing his fantasy baseball team in the Central Penn Stat Rats League. For over 40 years he was a season ticket holder for PSU Football Games and loved watching and attending games with his friends and family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College PA 16801.

Father Jonathan Dickson will preside over a service Friday, November 2 at 11 am at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College PA 16801. Burial will take place following the service at Centre Community Memorial Park. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, so they can work to find a cure for this devastating disease.
