Obituary for Willie B. Mitchell Our Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Father-in-law, Uncle and Brother-in-law Willie B. Mitchell, Sr. has completed his journey on Earth and is running toward his eternal destination with his lord and Savor Jesus Christ on April 5, 2018. He was proceeded to his destination by his Mother Thelma Hazel (Nixon) Mitchell, his Father J. B. Mitchell and his Daughter Julie Carroll (Mitchell) Foster. Known as, Dad, Paw Paw, Bubba and Uncle Will, he is survived by his wife of 53 years Carroll Fay (Anthony) Mitchell, his sons Gary, Willie Jr. and Randy Mitchell; son-in-law Mike Foster; daughter-in-law Michelle Mitchell, grandchildren Casey and Brooke Mitchell; Michael, Dustin, and Stormy Foster; Great Grandchild Hayden Foster; Sister and brother-in-law Linda and Benny Wilson; Niece and Nephew Kim and Benjamin Wilson.
Willie was a 1954 Graduate of Harlandale High School. During High School he would help in the family business Mitchell’s Ice House on the corner of Pleasanton Road and Grovesner. AFter high school he served 8 years in the Air Force Active Reserves 433rd Tactical Hospital unit between 1954 and 1962.
He was very active in the Harlandale community his entire life, he was a 54 year member of Harlandale’s Odd Fellows Lodge 26 where he served as Treasurer, Willie also volunteered at Harlandale Methodist Churches Boy Scout Troop 10 where he served as Committee Chair and was awarded the Tejas Valley District Award of Merit. Sundays were always dedicated to serving the Lord as a deacon at Southeast Baptist Church. In his spare time Willie enjoyed Thursday Night Square Dancing with his Wife with The Southeast Stars Troupe.
The children couldn’t wait for the summer and the annual weeklong trip to the coast where he enjoyed fishing, relaxing and watching his family enjoy each other, Bayside and Holiday Beach, Texas are where many lifelong memories were made.
