Mr. Willie James Brown transitioned from this earthly to eternal life on March 7, 2019, with his family by his side. Mr. Willie James Brown was born December 4, 1936 in Martin County, to the late Rosie Bell Griffin Brown and Nathaniel Brown, Sr. Willie received his early education in Martin County School system. After graduation he moved to the North East.

There, he met and married his soul mate, best friend and confidant; Mrs. Mary L. Brown, October 25, 1959. Willie and his family would reside in Stamford, Connecticut for many years before moving to Norwalk, Connecticut in 1973. He held several jobs before going to work for the State of Connecticut as a Special Deputy Sheriff in the Fairfield County Sheriff Department.

Several promotions later he would retire as Sergeant (Lead Marshal) for the Judicial Marshal Service, January 1, 2006. Willie was an active member of Union Baptist Church and later joined Friendship Baptist in Stamford, Connecticut. Willie moved his family back to North Carolina in 2006.

Having joined and received his early Christian teaching at Poplar Point Missionary Baptist Church, it was no surprise that he would continue his fellowship and spiritual relationship with God at the same church. He was a Trustee, and member of the Kitchen Committee. Willie would serve in whatever capacity necessary until failing health prevented him from doing so.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary L. Brown; sister, Pauline Powell; brother, Hubert Lee Brown. Willie leaves to cherish and celebrate his memories, daughter, Jacqueline Brown of the home; granddaughters, Kelli Brown of the home, Kristina Cromer Foley (Chris) of Huntersville, NC; great-granddaughter, Isabelle Foley of Huntersville, NC; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Savage of Williamston, NC, Mrs. Evelyn Baker of Hamilton, NC; brother, Nathaniel Brown (Alice Faye) of Williamston, NC; a special niece and nephew, Verna Goss (Mack) ; seven sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
