A homegoing service for Deacon Willie Lee Lewis of Tampa, Florida who passed away, on May 24, 2018, will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, 11:00 a.m. at Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2607 E. 24th Ave. , Pastor Sylvester Robinson with Rev. Cleveland Lane Pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Highland Pines, officiating.

Deacon Willie Lee Lewis’ life began on August 30, 1944 in Campbellton, FL. He was born to the late Robert Lee Lewis, Sr. and Martha Lee Lewis. Affectionately known as “Lump”, he was a graduate of St. Paul High School in Campbellton, FL, class of 1963.

He was employed for 12 years at Hillsborough Transit Authority. He became part owner of Lewis Grocery and later retired from Rooms to Go Furniture Store. He was converted at an early age.

He joined St. Matthew M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Long. He later joined First M.B. Church of Highland Pines and became a deacon under the leadership of the late Pastor Frank Carter, Sr. and continued to faithfully serve under the leadership of Pastor Cleveland Lane. Deacon Lewis departed this life on May 24, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kaythaniel Lewis and his father, Robert Lee Lewis, Sr He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Betty Lewis, 4 daughters, Twanda Lewis, Teresa Clark (Andre), Felicia Lowman (Andre) and April Lewis; 5 sons, Kenneth Lewis, Ricky Lewis (Arnetha), Maurice Lewis (Tavi), Kelvis Askiew (Tisha), and Christopher Lewis all in Tampa FL; his loving mother, Martha Lee Lewis of Campbellton, FL; 2 sisters, Mary J Hoover of Campbellton, FL and Lola B. Capehart of Dade City, FL; 3 brothers, Odell Lewis (Mattie) of Campbellton, FL, Robert Lewis (Carrie) and R D Lewis (Ida) of Tampa, FL; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Robert Gray and Tony Gray of Campbellton, FL; sisters-in-law, Louise Anderson and Pearlie Robinson of Tampa, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, June 1st, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
