Willis Alexander “Wick” Lyle, 88, of Gladstone, passed away July 8, 2018. Born in Goshen on February 2, 1930, Wick was the son of the late Wayland S. and Grace Lyle. He married Katherine “Kitty” Lyle on November 19, 1960.

She preceded him in death on April 30, 2016. Wick served in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of St. James United Methodist Church.

He was employed for 35 years at English Construction. He is survived by one son, Willis Lyle, Jr. (Glenna) of Waynesboro; four daughters, Michelle “Shelly” Kitchen (Earl) of Wingina, Amy Benson (Jeff) of Stuarts Draft, Tracy Carter of Gladstone and Lori Gabriel of Dillwyn; brother, Douglas Lyle (Donna) of Staunton; seven grandchildren ; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayland, John, Leroy, Homer and Henry; two grandsons, Sebron “Sebe” Kitchen and Greg Lyle and two sons-in-law, Lee Carter and Leonard Gabriel.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Antioch Union Baptist Church, 2810 Greenway Road, Buckingham. Pall bearers will be Roger Wright, Troy Kitchen, Jonathan Kelton, Christopher Frost, Cliff Carter and Dustin Kitchen. Memorials may be made to Centra Hospice of the Hills, 2097 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
