Obituary for Winston Michael Wong It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Winston Michael Wong at 78 years old. Winston passed away suddenly at home on November 24 while surrounded by his family. Winston spent the last 3 years of his life surrounded by love and laughter living with his daughter Patricia and four grandchildren (Carlos, Adrianna, Celestina and Frankie) in Elk Grove, CA.
Winston was born in San Francisco, CA on May 28, 1940 to Lilie Yee Wong and Eugene Wong. Winston graduated from Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco, CA. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps www.
legacy.com/memorial-sites/marines/? personid=190868896andaffiliateID=106. Following the Marine Corps he graduated from University of San Francisco with a B.S. in Science.
Winston then spent the next 45 years working for the US Government (Department of Defense) as a Quality Control Inspector. After much debate, he was finally convinced to retire at 69 years old. Winston, aka “Dad” or “gpa” to all, was always making jokes and being a smart aleck!
He was always smiling, teasing and laughing. He could often be found taking his granddaughter Celestina out to eat or picking up his grandson Frankie from football practice. He went to either the gym or Elk Grove Senior Center daily to exercise.
Winston was fiercly proud of being a grandfather. In fact he would often joke how you love your grandchildren more than your own children. Winston is survived by his daughter, grandchildren, Aunt Shirley, Aunt Frances and a large extended family of cousins.
His mother Lilie Yee was one of nine children born to Chinese immigrants who became American citizens. Winston was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
