Obituary for Mr. Woodrow Wilson Vaughn Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Vaughn passed away on August 23, 2018, in Oklahoma City. He was born on Wednesday, June 25, 1924 in Center Point, Arkansas, to the late Robert Ray Vaughn and Mary Props-Vaughn. Having lived in the small community of Center Point, Woodrow met and married Nellie May Graves of that same community.

Their union continued for 54 years ending with the passing of Nellie on July 28, 1996. Out of this union came 11 thriving blessings in the form of 9 sons and 2 daughters. Two sons, Melvin G. Vaughn of Oklahoma City and Larry L. Vaughn of San Antonio, TX, preceded their father in death.

He also became a member of and attended the Church of Christ. During his youth “Woody” attended public school in Center Point. As a young man he was called upon to serve his country as a soldier in the United States Army during WWII.

He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army thus completing his service commitment. After being discharged from the service, Woodrow re-joined his family who had relocated to Oklahoma City, OK. For many years he owned and operated his landscape business and serviced numerous customers.

Additionally, “Woody” was employed by the City of Oklahoma City where he retired as a crew leader with the Parks Department. His memories are left to Ray and Yvonne Vaughn, Mary Vaughn Sutton, Wilburn and LaTrice Vaughn, Denise Vaughn Pendleton and Tyronne Pendleton, Wayne and Jackie Vaughn, Earnest and Diane Vaughn, Jerry Vaughn, Eric Vaughn, Darryl Vaughn, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. “Woody” was also blessed with numerous additional family members and friends to whom he has left his memories to share.
