Zdenka Josephine Lapar, 81, passed away early Tuesday morning March 26, 2019. Zdenka was born May 7, 1937 in New York, NY to Henry and Josephine (Krcil) Sredl. When she was a few months old her family moved to Astoria, NY which is where she grew up.

While finishing up her high school years at Central Commercial High School in Manhattan, NY, Zdenka became reacquainted with Milan Charles Lapar. Milan and Zdenka dated for several years, and at Zdenka’s senior prom in May 1956 Milan asked Zdenka to marry him. After school Zdenka accepted a job with Webber Knapp Corp in New York, NY.

Milan and Zdenka married on June 22, 1957 in Queens, NY. After they were married the couple settled into an apartment in Astoria, NY. Zdenka continued her employment as a secretary for Webber Knapp Corporation until giving birth to their first child.

Milan and Zdenka raised their three children, Susan, Daniel, and William in Kings Park, NY where Zdenka was a full time mom. In 1980, Zdenka returned to work in the secretarial field, eventually settling into a job with American Technical Ceramics in Huntington, NY, where she worked for 19 years until her retirement in 1999. Zdenka loved spending her summers on March Pond in New Durham, NH and then retirement years in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

She enjoyed boating, golfing, blueberry picking, skiing, traveling, spending time with friends, and most importantly Zdenka loved her family. Zdenka is survived by her husband Milan Lapar; children Susan Rosenberg (Donald), Daniel Lapar (Kimi Lynn) and William Lapar (Sonya); grandchildren Gregory Rosenberg, Kerri Rosenberg, Michelle Kennedy (Corbin), Jessica Lapar, Jacob Lapar, Alexander Lapar, Rachel Lapar, Meghan Lapar, and Amanda Lapar. Zdenka is also survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Rowena Sredl and brother-in-law Rudolph Lapar along with numerous nieces and cousins both in the United States and Europe.

Zdenka, “Z”, Mom, Grandma will be loved always and missed forever by her family. At a time in the future there will be a memorial service held to celebrate Zdenka’s life. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Multiple System Atrophy research at www.
