Connie Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Dr. Owens died peacefully at home on January 8, 2019 in Ruston, LA at the age of 82. Wayne was born in Ruston, LA on August 12, 1936 to Emma Lou Owen Owens and A. G. Owens, Sr He was accomplished at providing care to those in need and cared about the person as well as their health.

He was a compassionate and caring individual who loved the profession of medicine and who was passionate about caring for his patients. He was an avid and dedicated sportsman who loved the outdoors. Dr. Owens is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Stephanie Owens and his brother, A. G. Owens, Jr

Dr. Owens is survived by his wife, Carol Owens; one son: Matthew Owens of Ruston; three daughters: Kim Owens of Madison, WI, Allyson Owens of Covington, LA and Heidi Owens of Madison, WI; grandchildren: Eli Murphy, Oliver Murphy and Grace Murphy, all of Covington and Lola Hilliard of Madison, WI. Servings as pallbearers will be Callen Owens, Brendan Owens, Chris Womack, Troy Beasley, Randy Turner and Blain Owens. Visitation will be 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Owens Memorial Chapel.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dr. Owens’s life. The family would like to express their appreciation for the dedication shown to him by his caregiver. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association.
