Arlene “Abby” Ann Farrow-Stapleman Arlene “Abby” Farrow-Stapleman passed on to the spirit world on April 27, 2018 at her home on Tutilla Flats in Mission, Oregon. She was born on May 10, 1960 in Pendleton, Oregon to the late Elzie and Emma (Sheoships) Farrow. Abby was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) and grew up on the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

She worked at Wildhorse Resort Casino Hotel as an assistant manager, the CTUIR Education Department as an Indian Education Counsel for the Pilot Rock schools and the CTUIR Tribal Daycare as an assistant manager before health issues caused her to retire early. Abby traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canadaattending pow wows and rodeos. She was a fancy shawl dancer in her youth and a short-fringe traditional dancer in her teen and adult years and was an exceptional beadwork artist.

Abby’s love for horses and rodeos in her youth followed her into adulthood where she met her husband Richard Stapleman in 1986 at the Yakima Rodeo. Abby enjoyed attending Nixyáawii Community School basketball games to watch her grandnephews and niece and other family members. She took great pride in her family and extended family member’s participation in traditional activities.

Abby took pride in gathering traditional foods and medicines and participating in tribal longhouse activities. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Elzie and Emma, brother Michael “Jughead” Farrow, sister Louella Farrow, and nephew Gideon Farrow. She is survived by her loving family, husband Richard Stapleman, daughters Adrienne Farrow (Jeremy), AaronessaFarrow-Frank (Brian), granddaughters Emmalyn, Aaronessa, Adairah, grandsons Tiydan and Tréson, brothers Matthew, Bear (Linda) and Eldon Farrow, sisters Ceceila Sheoships, Therese Farrow and Carol Farrow-Morgan (David), nephews Matthew(Patty), Burke (Dawn), Dan, and Jeremiah (Donna) Farrow and Shawn and Joseph Meuchel, nieces Teara Farrow Ferman(Mauricio), Keysha Ashley (Aaron), Ciel Love (Nathaniel), Alyssa Farrow, great-nephews Tiyapo Farrow, Ira, Jace, and Ellis Ashley, Trent Hunt, Dresdon and Casey Farrow and Thaddeus Love, and great-nieces Marissa Baumgartner, Yessenia Ferman, Chelsea and Celia Farrow, Azure Rose, and Sophia Ferman.
