Funeral services for Achamma George, 88, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Dr. Jerome Brimmage officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. George was born March 26, 1930 in Trivandrum, Kerala, India, the daughter of M.P. George and Mariam (Fenn) George, and died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. George was a retired teacher. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Sushil and Jaya George of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Drs.

Elizabeth and Jayan Parameshwar of London, UK; grandson, Nithin George of Dallas; granddaughter, Nisha George of Boston; and grandson, Prakash Parameshwar of London, UK. Ms. George is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, A. G. George. Pallbearers will be Sushil George, Nithin George, Abraham Cheriyan, Mani Kuruvilla, Thomas Zachariah, and Paul Koola.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jayan Parameshwar, Prakash Parameshwar, Suhail Cheriyan Thomas, Sujit George Thomas, Suraj Jacob Thomas, and Bijoy Fenn. Special memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Adult Day Center, 305 Shands Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
