Funeral services for Luther Holland, 94, of Temple, Texas, will be held Friday, June 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bob Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.

Mr. Holland was born August 20, 1923 in Belton, Texas, the son of the late Edward Holland and Gazza (Hill) Holland, and died Monday, June 11, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Holland and his family loved to get together and sing gospel songs. He enjoyed working in his garden and loved to fish.

He is survived by his daughter, Edwanna Eckenrode of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Joe Edd and Sue Oldham of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Wendy Holland of Houston; grandson and wife, Patrick and Vera Delasandro of Ashgrove, MO; grandson, Joseph Holland Delasandro and Amanda Taylor of Tyler; grandson and wife, Brent and Sharon Malinowski of Houston; grandson and wife, Mark and Rhonda Delasandro of Searcy, AR; granddaughter and husband, Michelle and Jeremy Gregory of London, AR; grandson and wife, Shannon Luther and Velvet Philpot of Houston; grandson and wife, Timothy and Stefanie Delasandro of College Station; granddaughter and husband, Kelly and Larry Lawson of Corrigan; granddaughter and partner, Jacque and Ariel Oldham-Scovill of Minneola, FL; 25 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley LaGroan of Temple; sister, LaFawn Gaddy of Houston; nieces and nephews as numerous as the stars; along with his life-long family friend, Brenda Nichols of Pollok. Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Mable (Roberts) Holland; wife of 29 years, Ruth Holland; daughter, Georgia Oldham Wilson; brothers, Dolphus Holland, Ernest Holland, and John Henry; sisters, Ruthel Barton and Frances Mood; foster child, Tommy Hawkins; and aunt, Deedee Chandler. Pallbearers will be Brett Malinowski, Shannon Philpot, Chad Holland, Mark Delasandro, Joseph Delasandro, and Timothy Delasandro.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Malinowki, Patrick Delasandro, and Jarek Malinowski. Special memorials may be made to the Dunn Chapel Church of Christ, 1211 S. FM 706, Lufkin, Texas 75904. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
