Graveside services for Marlene Lea Lucas, 73, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, July 30, 2018, at 2:15 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Mrs. Lucas was born March 6, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Emil Chriss Claussen and Edna Leona (Brown) Claussen, and died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Lucas loved taking care of people. She was a CNA for many years. Mrs. Lucas was a great cook, and loved being outdoors.

She is survived by husband, James Lucas; daughter, Robyn Dempsey and husband Gary; daughter, Debbie Porter; sons, Kevin Dalahite and Lee Dalahite; brothers, Joe Claussen and Craig Claussen; sisters, Gerry Roth and husband Frank, and Dixine Wood; and step-sons, Roy Lucas, and Ralph Lucas along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Leona Claussen; and brother, Doug Claussen. Special memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
