Graveside services for Mary F. Carter, 86, of Zavalla, will be held Friday, July 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Zavalla Cemetery with Pastor Steve Comstock officiating. Ms. Carter was born July 26, 1931 in San Augustine, Texas, the daughter of the late Forrest Bailey and Virgie (McSwain) Bailey, and died Satuday, July 7, 2018 in Huntington. Ms. Carter loved to work in her yard.

She also loved to cook and have family get togethers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Victor Alfaro of San Augustine; son, Hollis Stanley of Pineland; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Paul Lakey of Lufkin; daughter, Evelyn Stephens of Zavalla; daughter, Elaine Coulter of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Sandy and Debra Stanley of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jeannie Stanley of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Earl Lewis of Humble; daughter, Donna White of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Donald Sheffield of Huntington; 32 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 35 great great-grandchildren; brother, Henrey Bailey of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Pewee and Ofilia Bailey of Marshall; brother, Forrest Bailey of Zavalla; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her parents; and grandsons, Christopher Daniel Greer, Nicholas Coulter, and Dustin Coulter.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Lakey, Hollis Lakey, Clayton Ponder, Norman Ponder, Jamie Stanley, and Michael Ener. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday July 13, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
