Funeral services for Guadalupe “Lupe” Moreno, 86, of Diboll, will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Assembly of God Church in Lufkin with Pastor Ruben Luna officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Moreno was born October 19, 1931 in Goliad, Texas, the daughter of the late Jose Silva and Audelia (Gomez) Silva, and died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at her residence surrounded by family.

As a young woman, Mrs. Moreno helped her parents in the field as migrant workers. She got married in 1957 and continued to be a migrant worker until moving to Diboll in 1969. Mrs. Moreno was a strong and stern woman.

She loved to cook for her family and work in her flower garden. Mrs. Moreno will be remembered for her homemade tortillas. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Pedro and Terry Moreno Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Anita Moreno of Ft.

Wayne, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Jaime and Irma Moreno of Corpus Christi, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Aida and Robert Deltoro of Groesbeck, TX; daughter, Elizabeth Segura of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Carlos and Christina Moreno of Diboll; son, Isreal Moreno of Diboll; son, Johnny Moreno of Diboll; son, Jaime Moreno Jr. of Diboll; son, Charles “Paco” Rast of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, April and Arthur Anderson of Diboll; 38 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Edubina Munoz of Dallas, TX; sister, Lydia Martinez of Elsa, TX; sister, Elena Vaiz of Groesbeck, TX; sister, Ludeen Morones of Houston, TX; and sister, Delmira Palomin of Groesbeck, TX. Mrs. Moreno was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pedro Moreno; brother, Lazaro Silva; daughters, Lupita Moreno and Sara Moreno; and grandson, P.J. Deltoro. Pallbearers will be Pedro Moreno Jr., Robert Moreno, Jaime Moreno, Carlos Moreno, Isreal Moreno, Johnny Moreno, and Charles “Paco” Rast.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jaime Moreno Jr. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Following the visitation, there will be a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 p.m. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
