Funeral services for Charles Ray McCallum III, 67, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, September 3, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, with Bro. Roger Justus officiating. Interment will follow at Wheeler Cemetery.

Mr. McCallum was born May 29, 1951 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Charles and Franciel McCallum, Jr., and died Thursday, August 29, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Mr. McCallum was an army veteran who served in Viet Nam in 1971-1972. He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach and sandbars on the river.

He enjoyed telling family stories and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife of 18 ½ years, Linda of Lufkin; his special daughter, “Pebbles”; daughter, Tammy Carmichael of Magnolia; 2 brothers, Matt and Mark of Dallas; his stepdaughter, Pamela Hambrick of Lufkin; stepson and wife, Glenn & Michelle Hambrick of Melrose; stepdaughter, Jessica Durant and Gene of Burke; stepson and wife, William & Shannon Shockley, Jr., of Melrose; and grandson Jacob Welch of Magnolia; 7 step grandsons, William, Michael H., James, Justin C., Derrick T., Justin A., Michael D.; 4 step granddaughters: Amanda, Sarah, Samantha, Jennie; 4 step great grandsons; 7 step great granddaughters; sister-in-law, Patricia Morgan of Burke. Mr. McCallum was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray “Doc” McCallum, Jr.; mother Franciel Young McCallum; grandson, Cody Rogers; and son-in-law Jud Welch.

Pallbearers will be Matt McCallum, Mark McCallum, Jacob Welch, Glenn Hambrick, William Shockley, Jr. and Justin Covington. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Steptoe, Harold Biscamp, Andy Biscamp, and Ashley Biscamp. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
