OBITUARY James Daniel Chandler April 1, 2018 – October 13, 2018 Services for James D. Chandler, 80, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Brian Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan.

Mr. Chandler was born April 1, 1938 in Corrigan, Texas, the son of the late Jimmie Lee (Bell) and Verdo R. Chandler. He passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Chandler was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was retired from Lufkin Electric as a sales representative. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking with friends and walking at the Lufkin Mall. He was an avid “42” player.

Mr. Chandler proudly served his country in the United States Army. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Howard Thompson of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Melissa Chandler of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brandi Moore and husband Kyle, Courtney Chandler and David Willis, James D. Chandler III,Alisha Dwire, Laura Turner and Katlin, Michael Sessum, and Jennifer Sessum; great-grandchildren, Hanna Turner, Tristan Turner, Alexis Moore, Karter Moore, Addison Dwire, Madison Dwire, Chloe Crawford, Matthew Crawford, Rusti Willis and Toni Willis; and a number of other family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his wife, Reda Chandler in 2005; and his brother, Wilbur Chandler.

Pallbearers will be David Willis, Kyle Moore, Katlin Turner, Colton Harvey, Michael Sessum and Pete Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Thompson and J. D. Chandler III. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Reda Chandler in 2005; parents, Jimmie Lee (Bell) and Verdo R. Chandler; and his brother, Wilbur Chandler.
