Obituary for John Moore Services for John Moore, 65, of Lufkin will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Simpson Chapel Baptist Church, FM 227, Ratcliff, TX. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens, Lufkin. Visitation is Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary.

John Moore was born in Crockett, Texas on April 14, 1953, to Charlie and Odessa Lewis-Moore. John was reared in Crockett where he attended Crockett High School graduating with the Class of 1973. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Luke Baptist Church in Crockett.

Later, he relocated to Lufkin, Texas and attended Simpson Chapel Baptist Church in Ratcliff, Texas, where he was a member of the Male Chorus. John was a hard working man and for many years had been employed at Lufkin Industries and enjoyed working part time for the funeral home. He was an avid fisherman and a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

John loved people and never met a stranger. He was known for the big beautiful smile that he was never seen without no matter how he felt. He was willing to help others even when he did not feel like it and could be depended upon.

He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. On November 24, 2018, a quiet and peaceful life came to a close for John Moore in Houston, Texas. Survivors: His daughters, Lisa Coleman, Felicha, Destiny Shantyia and a granddaughter; His brother, Joe Moore and wife, Ida Faye Moore; Nieces, Mary Moore, Paula Spillman, Jan Spillman, Sharon Moore-Davis and Teresa Moore; Jimmy Spillman, Chad Moore and Stacy Garvin; A wealth of great-nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie and Odessa Lewis-Moore; Sisters, Ina Ray Moore-Spillman and Linda Moore; Brothers Charlie Moore, David Moore and Adolphus Moore; A niece, Crystal Spillman.
