Memorial services for Johnnie Mae Conner, 89, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Mark Wilke officiating. Mrs. Conner was born November 13, 1929 in Mexia, Texas, the daughter of John Herrington and Lola Carpenter, and died Friday, November 23, 2018 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Conner was a charter member of Carpenter’s Way Church. She was also a 42’s domino champion. She loved fishing and was an World War II auxiliary lady.

She is survived by her sons, Clyde Milton Smith II; Phillip Michael Smith; Roy “Woody” Martin Smith; Grandchildren, Troy Smith; Trey Smith and wife, Iris; Roy Martin Smith II and wife, Samantha; Phillip Casey Smith and wife, Cindy; Whitney Michelle Smith; Aleisha Smith; Belinda Smith; Haley Havard and husband, Jeremy; Angela Rae Smith, and husband Christian; numerous great grandchildren. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, Drue Conner; son, William “Panama” Mark Smith; and special friend, Lester Greenville. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Darab, Adriane Cavazos, Ralph Cannon, Robbie Brown, Jeremy Havard, and Charles Mclemore.

Special memorials may be made to Carpenter’s Way Church, 400 N. John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, TX 75904. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
