Funeral services for Larry Edward Arnold, 74, of Huntington, will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington with Bro. Brian Williams and Bro. James Forrest officiating.

Interment will follow at Treadwell Cemetery. Larry was born in the Rocky Hill Community on May 6, 1944 to Weldon and Hazel Arnold. He left this earth and stepped into heaven on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 with his family at his bedside.

Mr. Arnold was a loyal and faithful employee of Lufkin Industries for 49 years, where he was a Class A Machinist. He single-handedly built three of the 4 largest gear boxes ever produced by Lufkin Industries. Mr. Arnold was an active member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church for 45 years.

He served as song leader, Sunday school teacher, deacon, and played the guitar. Larry would do anything that needed doing at the church, that he loved with all his heart, without complaint. He loved God unashamedly.

Larry loved his family more than anything. He answered to many names: Paw, Grandpa, Poopaw, Paw Larry, and Daddy. Larry built the only two homes he lived in during his married life.

He was an excellent carpenter who would take on any project. Larry was loyal and a man of his word. If he said it, you knew it was so.

He liked hunting and fishing, but his family and his church were his favorite hobbies. Larry also coached Little League baseball and served as a member of the HISD school board. Larry leaves behind his wife, partner and best friend of 53 years, Wanda Cook Arnold; brother-in-law, Larry Allen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Ronda Arnold; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and John Stanbery; son and daughter-in-law; Kelly and Robbyne Arnold; grandsons: Michael Arnold & wife Lindsey, Jake Stanbery & wife Emily, and Chris Stanbery & wife Krystal; granddaughter, Tiffany Stanley & husband Landon; grandchildren: Krista Arnold, Carson Arnold, and Kelyne Arnold; great-grandchildren: Paisley and River Arnold; Breylan, Nolan, and Easton Stanbery; Jed and Levi Stanbery; Dalton, Colton, and Emily June Stanley; as well as various nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Hazel Carlisle Arnold; his sister, Sylvia McKnight; uncles, Frank Arnold and Johnny Arnold; mother & father -in-law, Doris and Lester Cook; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Allen; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Cook. This world lost a little color when he passed, and he will be deeply missed. We know that he heard the words “Well done, my good and faithful servant” when he entered Glory!

Pallbearers will be Jake Stanbery, Michael Arnold, Carson Arnold, Brandon Bostick, Bobby Evett, and Dakota Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Page, Elmer Sanders, Mike Arnold, Malcolm Arnold, Robert Allen, and Steve DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the building fund at Salem Missionary Baptist Church at 965 Ralph Nerren Road, Huntington, TX 75949.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Salem Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral services will immediately follow visitation. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin Directors.
