OBITUARY Joe Cruz Miranda November 8, 1935 – July 23, 2018 Joe C. Miranda Services for Joe C. Miranda, 82, of Diboll, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Kenny Hibbs and Bro. Gene Hazell officiating.

Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Forest Park Lawndale in Houston. Mr. Miranda was born November 8, 1935 in Fastrill, Texas, the son of the late Rose (Moreno) and Jesus Jose Miranda. He passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Miranda married his wife Dolores on June 1, 1963; he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed missionary work, being a tennis coach and sports writer.

He was a member of the FFA-Diboll High School and the Noonspiration Club at East Texas Baptist College (ETBU). He was also a foster grandparent, President of Class of ’54, all around 3rd baseman and quarterback co-captain of the football team. Mr. Miranda was a member of First Baptist Church Diboll.

Survivors include his daughter, Camellia Ann Robison of Diboll; grandson, Christopher John Ybarra of Lufkin; granddaughter, Rochelle Ann Miranda Pena of Desoto; grandson, Joshua Bryant of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Isbella and Jaxon Logan; sister, Frances Rodriguez of Diboll; brother, Frank Miranda of Corrigan; sister, Marie Joslen of Diboll; sister, Virginia Lona; sister Sofia Torres; brother, John Miranda of Tennessee; brother, Jose Miranda; sister, Carmen Miranda of Diboll; and a number of other family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Miranda was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Miranda; siblings, Marina, Isadore, Rose, Alfred and Elvira; aunt, Matilda and his dog, Cocoa Chocolatte Miranda. Pallbearers will be Christopher Ybarra, James Pena, Josh Bryant, Jason Rodriguez, Jarrad Grumbles, and D. J. Mark.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Havard, Earl Carr, Jimmy McCall, Joe Anthony, Dave Jr. Martinez, Frank Miranda Sr., John Miranda, Lynn Ray Turner and Frank Merdith Miranda Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Miranda’s memory may be made to the Peru Mission Fund at Fairview Baptist Church, 3742 FM 2108, Lufkin, TX 75901; or to the Fisher House Foundation, 2002 Holcombe Blvd. , Houston, TX 77030. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
