Adele Sapienza, 90, of Manalapan, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Marlboro, NJ. Adele was born on June 30, 1928 to Vincenzo and Assunta Perri in Brooklyn, NY. Adele worked as a Secretary for an Insurance firm in New York City, NY; a Sales Associate for Bamberger’s Department Store in Nanuet, New York; and a Secretary for Rockland Psychiatric Center before retiring in 1993.

She was an active member of the New City, NY Senior Citizens. She also volunteered at St. Augustine’s Church in New City, NY. On April 21, 1956, Adele married John R. Sapienza.

Adele and John lived in New City, NY for 56 years before moving to Manalapan two years ago. Adele is survived by her two daughters and a son-in-law, Christine and Abner Figueroa of Manalapan, NJ, Susan Sapienza of Freehold, NJ; three brothers, Joseph, Ben and Vincent; Perri; five Grandchildren, Eric, Alex, Maxwell, Scott, and Mark; . She was preceded in death by her parents Vincenzo and Assunta Perri; her sisters Maria, Lydia, Esther, and Edie; her brothers Ernest and Louis; and her beloved husband John Sapienza.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, from 4 to 8 pm at Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Hwy 79,Morganville, NJ. 07751. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 7, 2019, 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 58 Main St., Englishtown, NJ.

Burial will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Online condolences can be given at www. waittfh.com.
