Agnes Marcella Kinney, age 75, of Glendive, Montana passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Glendive Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date in the spring. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Agnes was born on July 2, 1943 in Glendive, a daughter of Horace “Red” and Hazel (Kennedy) Kinney. She was raised and educated in Glendive and graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1961. Agnes was a secretary for one of the local credit unions for several years before beginning her career with the county.

She started in the Superintendent’s office before later moving to the Treasurer’s office until her retirement in 2008. During her retirement she enjoyed quiet time at the ranch and helping with the cows. She also spent a lot of time traveling, taking cruises, playing cards, and bowling.

Throughout the years Agnes was active in the community and was a member of several committees, including: Secretary of the Fair Board for many years, an original member of the G.A.T.E. committee, a member of the Women of the Moose, and she was also a member of the Cowbells. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Hazel; one sister, Frances Kinney; and one brother-in-law, Bruce Haley.

Agnes is survived by her brother, Robert Kinney (Brenda Johnson) of Glendive; her sisters, Marlow Haley of Hardin, Montana and Phyllis (Nathan) Swanson of Nipomo, California; seven nieces and nephews, Timber (Radley) Dempewolf of Lindsay, Montana and their children, Trey, Hadley, and Wiley, Todd (Sara) Kinney of Glendive and their children, Kloey and Abbey, Ross (Danielle) Kinney of Glendive and their children, Kaycee and Teegan, Julie (Greg) Martin of Brighton, Colorado and their children, Will and Haleyanna, Cedar (Michael) Knapp of Ashland, Montana and their children, Shannon, Michaley, Jackson, and Caitlyn, Rusty (Jessica) Haley of Hardin, and Tanna Haley of Hardin; and numerous cousins.
