Al W. Kukuk, age 77, of St. Clair, formerly of Macomb Twp. , passed away January 18th, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 18, 1941 in Mt.

Clemens to the late Walbert and Florence Kukuk. Al grew up spending time at his father’s service station at the corner of Garfield and Canal in Clinton Twp. There he would learn trades that would serve him throughout his lifetime.

He loved racing his car at the Mount Clemens Race Track. Al’s extensive knowledge and talents led him to a career with the Operating Engineers, where he was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 for 47 years. Following retirement he was a valuable asset at the Pine Shores Golf Course, St. Clair and St. Clair Lawn.

Socially Al was an active member of the St. Clair Knights of Columbus Council 2251 where he was a staple with the Monday night euchre crew. He also was a 4th degree member of the K of C Richmond Assembly #480 and proudly served on their Color Guard. Al was a member of St. Mary’s Church, serving as an usher for many years.

In his spare time Al loved to golf and even recorded a hole in one. He loved the many trips up north to the Cat Lake Cottage where he and his family have countless memories of hunting and boating. Al is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joy Kukuk; children, Pamela (Robert) Hart, Danny (Kim) Pagel, Bob (Rita) Kukuk, Krista (Frank) Verner and Dennis (Linda) Kukuk; grandchildren, Amber (David), Aaron (Danelle), Benjamin Alton (Maggie), Clair (Ian), Sarah (Blair), Emily, Daniel, Ellie, Luca and Alessia; great grandchildren, Aubrie, Annalise, Clara Joy and Alexis; sister, Arline (Don) Grunewald and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

A funeral mass will be held Friday January 25th at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Thursday 2 to 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Friday at church 10:30 to 11 a.m. prior to mass.
