Alan Clements February 05, 1950 – February 03, 2019 Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Alan “Al” L. Clements, age 68, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at UP Health System-Marquette with his family at his side. He was born February 5, 1950 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Betty (McNett) Clements of Iron River, MI and the late Veril “Corky” L. Clements. He attended Stambaugh High School and graduated with the Class of 1969.

Alan married Nancy K. Bal on August 14, 1971 and moved to Iron River Township in 1972, where they made their home and raised their family. He was previously employed at the White Pine Mine and Bob Burke Trucking, until he decided to start his own company, buying his first semi-truck in 1980. Over the years, Alan continued to add to his fleet, having 13 logging trucks until he retired in 2015.

Alan liked to stay busy. He was very active in the Iron County Fair, including the Demolition Derby, Truck and Tractor Pulls, and the Logging Expo. He was given the “Friend of the 4-H” award.

While his kids were growing up, he was a Boy Scout Leader and a long-time member of the former Iron River Elks Lodge #1671. As President of the Iron County Pullers Association, Alan helped put on the annual Father’s Day Weekend Car Show. He loved tinkering around his garage and was a very generous man that loved to help his community in any way that he could.

Alan is survived by his wife Nancy of 47 years; mother, Betty (McNett) Clements; sons, Mark (Michelle) Clements, Randy (Mareia) Clements, Anthony Clements, Doug (Bobbie Jo) Clements; daughter, Elizabeth (Kurt) Abramson; 10 grandchildren, Samantha, Riley, Alan, Aurelia, Hailey, Brandyn, Emily, Adeline, David and Cole; nine step-grandchildren, Tashiena, Lyndsy, Hailey, Paige, Lilly, Dana, Zander, Landon, and Easton; one great grandson, Greyson; six step-great grandchildren, Collins, Carter, Chloe, Destany, Blake, and Andrei; sisters, Lynn “Dolly” (Howard) Hayden and Donna (Harry) Burley; brother, David (Karen) Clements; sister-in-law, Janis (Ron) Rosera; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Alan was preceded in death by his father, Veril Clements; mother-in-law, Antoinette B. Bal; sister-in-law, Alice (Jim) Huskey; and father-in-law, Michael W. Ball. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
