Alan was born in New Castle PA and raised in Charlestown MA, He is the son of Alfred (dec) and Betty Hallowell (dec), he was the eldest in a family of 7, brothers Alfred Hallowell of NE, David Hallowell of CA, Lawrence Hallowell (dec), Robert Hallowell (dec), Glenn Hallowell (dec), and sister Aletha Norvell of MO. Alan worked for Bell Systems/New England Telephone/NYNEX as a lineman and installer throughout the Merrimack Valley and Greater Boston.

Alan was a member of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska and proud of his Native American heritage, traveling back to the reservation often. Alan was a proud member of the Charlestown Schoolboy Association and played football for the Charlestown Townies for many years. Alan leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Etta of Georgetown, son Alan Jr and his wife Eduarda Hallowell of Lowell MA, Daughter Kathleen and husband Paul Noble of Rochester NH.

His grandchildren , that were the light of his life, Brianna Ryan, Sydney and Alan Hallowell III of Lowell MA, Brittany Noble and her fiancé Darren Brown of Rochester NH, Kaitlyn Rowe and her husband Nate of NH and Alexis and Kaylee Noble of Rochester NH. Great Granddaughters Harper and Hadley Rowe and Madelynn Brown. There will be a memorial service on Sat.

January 19, 2019 at 10 AM at the First Church in Charlestown, MA, where Alan was a deacon and has attended since childhood. A celebration of Alan’s life will follow at The Tavern at Lenzi’s in Dracut MA, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sweet Paws Rescue, 310 Main St Groveland MA.
