Albert Wesley Astin, 78, of Milton, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Spencer, WI. Al was born on June 27, 1940 to Lynn and Leora Astin. He graduated from Milton Union High School, home of the Redmen, in 1958.

One month later, he went into the U.S. Navy. Al served time aboard the U.S. Joseph P. Kennedy DD-850 and Guantanamo Bay Cuba. He came home and went to work at the Burdick Corporation.

Al married Joanne Seeman on August 17, 1963 and then went to Chrysler… Read More » Corp and last to the United Parcel Services for over 30 years. A lot of the guys called him Uncle Al. Then after retiring, Al enjoyed being a crossing guard for many years.

Al and Jo raised 3 wonderful children who they enjoyed very much. The spent a lot of time out on the river. Al was active in Cub Scouts and Pee-Wee Football, being in charge of the uniforms and helping to coach.

Whenever he could get home from work to watch the 3 kids and the grandkids in all their activities, he was in his glory. Al also enjoyed skiing and going off the ski jump at Clear Lake at age 9 when he was younger. He also loved bowling and golf, and playing sheepshead.

Al was a huge Packers fan and Cubs fan. Al is survived by his 3 children: Pam (Larry) Herman, Mike (Lori Rusch) Astin, Brad (Sharine Shinkay-Astin) Astin; grandchildren: Kyle (Aubrie) Herman, Kaleb Herman, Ian Astin, Adora Astin, Kole Herman, Allura Astin, Oren Astin; special friend: Arlene Rademacher and her children, Debbie, Brenda, Rick, and Laurie and their families; brothers and sister-in-laws: Bill and Joyce Leopold, Bruce Haugen, Carol Home; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Joanne Astin; brother: Mac Astin.

A special “Thank you” goes out to Jim and Kay Westrick and Bruce Haugen for all their trips to Madison. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church, Milton with Rev. Collette Gould officiating.

Burial will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville with full military rites. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton from 4 PM to 8 PM and from 10 a.m. until the start of the services at the church on Saturday. To honor Al, his wish was to have everyone wear Packer’s attire to the visitation and funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Al’s name or can be made out to Hope Lutheran Church.
