Obituary for Alberta Adams Emily Alberta Adams, 95, a lifelong Rush County resident was a woman of Faith and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 15, 2017 in Rushville, IN. Alberta was born in Rush County on July 15, 1922 and was the daughter of William and Ethel (McMichael) Cameron. James Lowell Adams married Alberta on March 31, 1945 in the chapel at the Main Street Christian Church (where she was a member).

After graduating from Rushville High School in 1941, Alberta got her first job at the Knight’s Ben Franklin store and went on during her life to hold jobs at International Furniture, McQuay-Norris in Connersville, Miller’s Merry Manor, and baby-sitting in her home. She was a hard-working farm wife for over 25 years. A past President of the Gab, Garb, and Glamour Homemaker’s Club, Alberta was also a member of the Hint Hunters and Friendly Homemakers Club and the Red Hatters.

She also served as a volunteer at Rush Memorial Hospital. Alberta traveled to New York City several times, including for the World’s Fair in 1965, and also visited Hawaii. The last living member of her family, she was preceded in death by brothers Carl, Pat, John, Wayne, Weldon (all W.W. II vets) and sisters Mary, Lavonne, Lillian, and Katherine.

Husband Lowell died in 1977 (a W.W. II vet, as well). Years after her husband’s death, Alberta enjoyed the companionship of her good friend, Ray Toole. Alberta’s memory is cherished by her children, Michael of New York, Steve and wife Deborah of Rushville, Ron of Columbus, IN and Debbie Adams of Denver, Colorado.

Alberta always loved visiting with her granddaughters, Aleshia, Amanda, Cami, Katie and grandson Nathan and great-granddaughters Haylee, Sayruh, and Charlotte Jane and step great granddaughter Jovi. Alberta enjoyed seeing photos of great-granddaughter Harper Grace, born in Denver, Colorado just two months ago. Alberta is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins from her husband Lowell’s siblings Irma, Wayne, and Frances.

Services will be at 1 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Pastor Chip West will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 11:30 AM to 1 PM that same day at the mortuary.

Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Alberta’s wishes were donations to charities. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Alberta Adams please visit our Sympathy Store.
