Alex “George” Hersk, 87, of Burlington, died at 10:38 am Friday, December 14, 2018, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington. Born July 8, 1931, he was the son of Sandor Gyorgy and Maria Lakatos Herskovics. On April 16, 1966, he married Betteanne Usher in Bermuda.

George worked as a life insurance salesman. George enjoyed golfing, tennis, and cooking, mostly Hungarian dishes. He loved reading thrillers and adventure novels, international travel and European football (soccer).

He loved his family more than anything. Survivors include wife, Betteanne Hersk of Burlington, three daughters, Alexandra (Ron) Krestan of Ozawkie, KS, Betzina (Kevin) Yaley of Sperry and Ilona (Dan) Anderson of Loveland, CO; eight grandchildren, Adam and Alyssa Krestan, Shane, Shawn and Brett Yaley, Seth, Joel and Isabella Anderson, and many other close family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. The memorial service for George will be Friday, December 21, 2018, at 5:00 PM with Pastor D. Troy Hassell officiating at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.
