Obituary for Alex Kodz Alex Kodz, 95, of the Township of Washington, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Alex was born in Poland on March 9, 1923 and moved to Germany in 1942 during World War II. He then moved to France in 1945 working in the coal mines until coming to the United States with his family in 1955.

He lived in Passaic, Elmwood Park and Pompton Plains before settling in the Township of Washington in 2002. Alex worked for Packaging Corporation of America in Garfield for 23 years retiring in 1985. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Passaic.

He was the beloved husband, of 57 years, to the late Vera (Zaisawa) Kodz, devoted father of Anthony Kodz and his wife, Mary Lou, of Reading, PA, and Mary Gozel and her husband, Frank, of the Township of Washington. He was the loving grandfather of Kevin and his wife, Amanda, and Caryn and her husband, Alan, great-grandfather of 4, and loving uncle to Larisa Kadaka and her family from Georgia. He is predeceased by his brothers John, Walter, Michael, Waselle and Peter and sisters Lidia and Helen.
