Obituary for Alexander Warzecka ALEX WARZECKA, of Folsom and long-time resident of Amador County passed away peacefully on October 27 at the age of 102. Born in Dearborn, Michigan on July 16, 1916, Alex was a loving husband to his wife Wanda who preceded him in death in 1979. He is survived by his two sons, Don and Greg, daughter’s-in-law Marilyn and Tammy, grandson Brett Warzecka, granddaughter Lindsay Cox and husband Travis, and great-grandchildren Halle and Eli Cox.

Alex outlived all his brothers and sisters, his third son, Thomas, and former daughter-in-law Mary Beth Paasch-Warzecka. Alex was an avid multi-sport enthusiast and followed the UC Davis Aggies. He bowled professionally during his time in Dearborn having won numerous tournament and team victories.

He worked for the Ford Motor Company before and after World War II, and moved to southern California in 1959 where he worked for Aerojet General Corporation as a Quality Control Specialist. He later worked for the Standard Brands Paint Company until he retired in 1981. A World War II veteran, Alex served in the 11th Armored “Thunderbolt” Tank Division that was deployed in December 1944 in central Europe after landing in Normandy.

The division embarked on one of the most grueling marches, covering 350 miles across France in four days. On December 23rd, the division joined General Patton’s Third Army, which engaged enemy forces in a furious battle against German Panzer divisions that inflicted heavy losses on the enemy and maintained a vital supply line into Bastogne, France. The victory later enabled an all-out assault on the vaunted Siegfried line, and the advancement of armed forces into Germany.
