Obituary for Mr. Alfred F. Schober Jr. Alfred F. Schober Jr. passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on October 1, 2018. Al was born on December 11, 1929 to Alfred and Christina Schober in Swedesboro, NJ. Al is survived by his wife of 65 years, Trudy J. Schober.

He was the father of Linda (Dale) Sizemore of Clarksboro, Rick (Tricia) Schober of Mickleton, Bill (Jill) Schober of Mickleton, Tom (Sue) Schober of West Deptford. He was the proud grandfather of 17 and great grandfather of 10. Al is also survived by his sister in law and brother in law, May and Willis Smick of West Deptford.

He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Rode. Al lived in Clarksboro his entire life and loved his community. He graduated from Swedesboro High School where he played baseball and football and was president of his class.

He attended Camden Business School after high school and joined his father at Charles Schober Co., in Philadelphia, a business founded by his grandfather. In 1951, he was drafted into the Army and served his country for two years. In 1953, he married Trudy (nee McKnight).

He would work over 50 years in the family wicker import business where his three sons would join him. He was the East Greenwich Township water clerk in the late 50’s and early 60’s. He was active in the Indian Guides, Little League, and was a charter member of the East Greenwich Lions Club.

He served as the zone chairman and deputy district governor for the Lions. Al was a devoted member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church for 75 years. In his younger years, he taught Sunday school, was a trustee, and was the chairman of the administrative council.

Al has a blessed life and family was important. Al and Trudy enjoyed many summers in their Ocean City home with their children and grandchildren. Friends and family may visit with the family Sunday October 7, 2018 from 7 to 9 PM in the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, 228 W. Broad St., Paulsboro and Monday morning after 9 AM in the Evangelical U.M. Church, 14 W. Cohawkin Rd.
