OBITUARY ALICE CROWE January 3, 1938 – September 14, 2018 Alice Johnson Crowe went to heaven on September 14, 2018. Wife and best friend to Francis Crowe for 57 years, she was the sixth of seven children born to Mary Catherine and Tom Johnson. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Tom and Jim “J.L.”; and sisters, Frances Roberts, Jane Armor, and Ann Muckle.

She is survived by sister, Maggie Chepul Martin. Alice graduated from Notre Dame High School, and took a two year course at the University of Chattanooga where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi, and was selected as a “Moccasin Beauty” in 1957. Alice married Francis Crowe in 1961, and Is survived by Francis and their children and grandchildren, whom she dearly loved: Chip (Francis Jr.), his wife Stefanie, and daughters Frances and Ellie; Chris, his wife Carrie and Jacob, Will, and Luke Lewis; Tim, his wife Chloe, and Ella Ingalls; Dr. Mary Alice Crowe-Taylor, her husband William, and Adelaide, Mirabel and James Taylor.

With her children raised, Alice returned to UTC, and in 1988 received a B.S. in Psychology. She became the Director of Dismas House, a halfway house for former offenders, and later was a counselor at CADAS, working with addicted patients and their families. In retirement, Alice loved swimming at the “Y”, playing tennis in leagues and groups at the Racquet Club, and playing duplicate bridge with her sister, Jane Armor at the Bridge Center.

A 55 year member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Alice served in many capacities, including on the Parish Council, as a lector, and as a Eucharistic Minister, both during Mass and in home visitations. The funeral will be at St. Jude Catholic Church on Ashland Terrace at 11:30 on Tuesday, September 18. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:30.

Donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Catholic Church or Notre Dame High School. Alice had the most beautiful smile, which will be forever missed by those who love her. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.
