Alice Hamilton Copeland October 15, 1932 – January 7, 2019 Alice Virginia Hamilton Copeland, 86, of Anderson, died January 7, 2019 at The Garden House of Anderson surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife for 64 years to the late James Bryson Copeland. Born in Belton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Earl Cleveland, Sr. and Alice Elise Sutherland Hamilton.

Alice was a graduate of Anderson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (RN) and the Clemson University and Medical University of SC Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. She was among the first Nurse Practitioners (NP) in SC. For over 40 years she served the community as an RN and a pediatric NP at The Children’s Clinic of Anderson.

She treated every patient with special care and loved every moment of her nursing career. She was a faithful member of Boulevard Baptist Church most of her adult life where she was active in Sunday School and women’s circles. Alice was known to her family and friends as a selfless person who hosted countless gatherings and dinners and always had a fresh baked pie or cake on the dinner table.

Survivors include the lights-of-her-life, her family: son and daughter in-law, Dr. Brent and June Beard Copeland of Anderson; daughter, Lisa C. Woodcock of Easley; grandchildren, Brent Copeland, Jr. and Maisie C. Hall and husband Andrew of Anderson and Robert W. Woodcock and wife Leah of Easley; great grandchildren, Alice Woodcock and Harlan Hall. In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Cleveland (EC) Hamilton, Jr., James Thomas (Bill) Hamilton, and Harold Curtis (Curt) Hamilton, and sisters, Mary N. Carwile, Elizabeth H. Kay, and Sylvene H. Buffington, and granddaughter, Laurel Marie Copeland. A graveside service will be held January 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at The Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Anderson, with The Reverend Dr. Johnny McKinney officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive guests immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boulevard Baptist Church, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621 or Calvary Home for Children, 110 Calvary Home Circle, Anderson, SC 29621. Cox Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
