Alice Anne McMichael Gwynn, 81, of Fieldale, VA passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. She was born on October 22, 1937 to the late Marvin H. McMichael and Annie Elizabeth Purcell McMichael. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Eugene Gwynn; brother, Marvin H. McMichael, Jr.; and grandparents, David Ernest Purcell and Vandora Troxler.

Alice initially worked at Fieldcrest Cannon, later moving on to the banking industry. She retired from MDCU. She enjoyed traveling with family and her high-school class.

She especially enjoyed going on cruises. Her favorite hobby was scrapbooking. Mrs. Gwynn attended Fieldale United Methodist Church where she was an active member.

She enjoyed working within her community, especially her prior involvement with the Fieldale Heritage Festival. She never met a stranger and was loved by all. She is survived by her sons, Eric Stephen Gwynn of Bluffton, SC and Jesse Eugene Gwynn, Jr. of Leland, NC; grandchildren, Kristie Hogeboom of Charleston, SC, Ashleigh Morey of Leland, NC, Laycie Gwynn of Charleston, SC, Chase Gwynn of Riner, VA, and Kristina and Brandon Vaught of Bluffton, SC; and great-granddaughter, Kayla Stone of Charleston, SC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Fieldale United Methodist Church, Pastor Jan officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville, NC.
