Born November 25, 1933 in Camden, Indiana, he was the son of the late Merle E. and Della G. (Hanna) Michael. Not too long after graduating with the Sheridan H.S. Class of 1953, Allan enrolled in one of Chrysler’s 4 year tool and die making apprenticeship programs that were being held at Arsenal Tech.

About half way through the program, Allan went to serve his country with the United States Navy. Upon returning home from the service, Allan would finish his apprenticeship. That program was the beginning of a 35 year career with the Chrysler Corporation before taking his retirement on November 25, 1988.

Allan enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, and shooting trap. He also enjoyed bowling with his league in Frankfort. He was a Colts fan and racing fan, following both NASCAR and Indy Car throughout the years.

His most favorite activities, however, were those that he was able to participate in with his family. Qualification day at IMS was one of those activities. He also loved doing things with his late wife Patty.

She and Allan loved going square dancing and playing euchre. They played regularly with many of their friends from church. Traveling was another favorite family activity.

They would often go on cross country camping adventures when the kids were young. In their later years, Patty and Allan traveled to Florida for the winter months. This was a tradition that they enjoyed for 21 years.

Allan was a member of the Sheridan Wesleyan Church and also attended the Terhune United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendant for many years. Allan is survived by his 2 sons, Steven D. Michael (Annette) of Sheridan and Jeffrey L. Michael (Donna) of Frankfort; 4 grandchildren, Steven Michael Jr. (Cheyanne), Jeffrey A. Michael, Christina Koehler (David), and Elizabeth Olovich (Richard); 3 great grandchildren, Sophia Olovich, McKenna Koehler, and Layla Koehler; and by his sister in law, Winnie Lou (Harris) Michael of Terhune. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Brian Scott Michael; 2 brothers, Daniel Michael and Dale Evan Michael; and by the love of his life, Patricia Joan Michael on July 15, 2018.

She and Allan were married at the Terhune E.U.B. Church on June 6, 1954. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th Street, Sheridan, Indiana. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hills Cemetery in rural Clinton County.

Rev. Kevin Bragg and Rev. Rick Birden will be officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to Riley Children’s Hospital.
