Alma Grace Smith, 77, of Newport, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, February 15, 2019. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Newport, officiated by Pastor Billy Knox. Alma was the sweetest woman who ever lived, she took care of everyone no matter who they were.

She loved her family and friends dearly and never missed a loved one’s birthday. She was known for her good cooking, especially her fudge and banana nut bread. She enjoyed her pets, scratch offs and playing bingo.

She will be remembered as a woman of God who loved the Lord and her family. She is survived by daughters, Grace S. Howard and husband Ritchie of Newport, Cathy S. Pohoresky and husband Willie of Newport and Angie S. Riggs and husband Glen of Newport; son, Frank Jacob Smith and wife Tisha of Newport; sisters, Betty Pederson of Newport, Donna Dipiepranponio and husband Joe of Newport and Sandy Bulkley and husband Bill of Newport; brothers, David Eugene Moore and wife Sandra of Newport and Mitchell Earl Moore and wife Carla of Newport; grandchildren, Steven Pohoresky, Timmy Riggs, Frank Jacob Smith, Jr., Christopher Howard, Matthew Riggs, Kasie Woods and husband Ray Woods, Kelcey Howard and Samantha Pohoresky; great-grandchildren, Jade, Jasmynn, Carolynn and Emma Grace; and grand-pet, Dogie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Dee Smith; mother, Nannie Mae Moore; father, Frank Jacob Moore; and sister, Clara Turnage.

Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made in Alma’s memory to Newport Babe Ruth League at 1084 Orange St., Newport, NC 28570. Online condolences may be made at www.
