Obituary for Alvin Akers Martin Alvin Akers Martin, 69 of the Stony Mill Community, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at SOVAH-Danville after a decline in health for the past three years. Al was born in Patrick County, VA on March 12, 1949 a son of the late Roy Franklin Martin and Gracie Mae Woodall Martin. Al served in the US Airforce and retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections.

He was of the Methodist faith. On December 11, 1976 he married, Ann Booth Martin, who survives. Survivors also include a son, Thomas Franklin Martin, three sisters, Florence Fulcher, Dorothy Lawson (J.E.), Lois Vandergrift (Tommy), a brother, Franklin Martin (Athajean), three grandchildren, Gwendolyn Grace Martin, Macey Blair Martin, and Savanna Carter.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Lorene Martin, and a brother, Johnnie Ray Martin. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by the Rev. Wayne Fulcher and the Rev.

Terry Martin. The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Martin family.
