Amanda M. Walters December 20, 1940 – October 13, 2018 Amanda M. Walters, 77 of Leetsdale passed away on Saturday October 13, 2018. Born December 20, 1940 in Decatur, IL daughter of the late Joe and Bessie (Johnson) McMahon. Beloved wife of the late Albert E. Walters.

Mother of Aileen (Eric) Happe of Sewickley and step mother of Christopher (Dawn) Walters of North Ridgeville, OH and the late Daniel Walters; grandmother of Annalise and Lauren; sister of Joe McMahon of Pittsburgh. A graduate of Peabody High School, Amanda went on to earn a degree in Art History from the University of Pittsburgh. Although artistic endeavors including painting and poetry were her first love, she went on to devote her career to teaching.

For 30 years she worked as a kindergarten teacher in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Known as generous and nurturing she was thought of as a second mother by many and she was a caretaker to many over the course of her life. Her greatest joy later in life was spending time with her two grandchildren – rarely a day passed that she was not with them.

Her sense of humor and great affection will be missed by all those that loved her. Services are private Announcement by Copeland’s of Sewickley. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Special Olympics.
