MADISON – Amber Louise Sokol, age 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1954 in Milwaukee. Amber was always a very caring person and was able to care for others through her work as a CNA for over twenty years at the Central Wisconsin Center and more recently as a Pharmacy Technician at Pick ‘n Save.

Amber enjoyed reading and keeping up with the news. She enjoyed being up early and listening to the birds and when she was able, she liked to garden and care for her potted plants. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandson.

She loved teaching him and coming up with crafting and play ideas. Amber will be remembered as a creative, caring and generous person and will be missed by many. She is survived by her two daughters, Kerri Sokol and Jessica Sokol-Caceres (Ben Rojas-Caceres); one grandson, Vincent Caceres; and one brother, Mark Burmek.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Otto and Olga Kroeger; and her mother, Beverly May (Kroeger) Dillard. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jan Gunderson of UW Health for her support and guidance and to the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for their exceptional care and comfort during Amber’s final days. Memorials may be made to Amber’s family for the care of her beloved grandson, Vincent.

You choose to see the best in people even in bad situations, to look beyond race, culture, socio economics, age, disabilities, size, gender, style, hair color, where they live, who they know. For this I am grateful and am a better person for it. I hope to pass down to Vincent all that is you.

I often think everybody needs an “Amber (you)” in their lives. I love you so much.
