Obituary for Angelo F. Campo Sr. Lakewood, NJ – Angelo F. Campo, Sr., 87, passed away in his sleep on October 16, 2018 at Shorrock Gardens Care Center in Brick. Born in Elizabeth to his late parents Angelo and Bettina (Rocco) Campo, Angelo resided in Union for forty-eight years, moved to South Plainfield with his daughter and her family from 2012-2014 and then settled to Lakewood. For twenty years, Angelo was a Sergeant with the Army National Guard where he served during the 1966 Riots in Newark.
Angelo was a very devout catholic, and in his youth, he was an altar server at St. Anthony’s Parish in Elizabeth. Angelo graduated high school and continued his education until graduation from Seton Hall University. He was proud to be an educator with the Don Bosco Preparatory School in Ramsey where he taught French and English for forty-eight years.
He then went on to own his own landscape business, P.A.C. Enterprises. He enjoyed singing and while teaching at Don Bosco, he was the founder of the National Honor Society. Angelo loved his family and friends, but most importantly he enjoyed his time spent with his granddaughters.
Predeceased by six siblings; Angelo leaves behind his loving and devoted family; wife Pauline (Gualano) Campo of fifty-three years, daughter Bettina DeVizio and her husband Daniel of South Plainfield, son Angelo Campo, Jr. and his partner Michael Vasilevich of Long Branch, two granddaughters; Danielle and Deanna, both of South Plainfield as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 4-8 pm and on Saturday, October 20, 2018 beginning 8:45 am. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 beginning 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield.
Mausoleum entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. In lieu of flowers, donations sent in Angelo’s memory to Don Bosco Preparatory School, 492 Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey, NJ 07446 would be appreciated. To send flowers to the family of Angelo F.
