Obituary for Robert Sherwood South Plainfield – Robert Sherwood, 85, passed away Wednesday December 19, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born in Jersey City, Bob settled to South Plainfield in 1957 where he and his wife, Evelyn, raised their family. A life member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763, Bob proudly served our country during the Korean War with the United States Marines reaching the ranking of Corporal.

Owner and Operator of Sherwood’s Modern Electric for over 60 years, Bob held the position of Past President of the Four County Electrical Contractors Association and was a member of the State Board of Electrical Contractors. Bob was an avid bowler and enjoyed music and playing his guitar; however, he most enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Evelyn (Maranzano) Sherwood of South Plainfield; son, Daniel Sherwood and wife Jean of South Plainfield and daughter, Lori Gerstl and husband Randy of Hillsborough.

He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Jennifer and Matt of South Plainfield, Stephanie and Dan of South Plaifnield, Jay of North Cape May and Leanne of Hillsborough and two great grandchildren, Allison and Ryan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 22, 2018 at 10AM in the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by burial in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Friday from 4-7PM.
