Obituary for Anna Jean Bockey Anna Jean Bockey, 89, of Delphos, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Wyngate Senior Living Community, Lima. She was born February 23, 1929, in Delphos to Leonard and Bertha (Carder) Kroeger, who both preceded her in death. On August 1, 1951, she married Walter E. Bockey who preceded her in death on September 14, 1996.
Anna Jean is survived by four sons, Joe (Doris) Bockey, Dennis Bockey, Vernon (Lisa) Bockey, and John (Melissa) Bockey, all of Delphos; five daughters, Joan (George) Hurrell of Port Clinton, Connie (Fred) Nahrwold of New Haven, IN, Monica (Richard) Maye of Elida, Jackie (Rick) Calvelage of Middle Point, and Diana Rennie of Delphos; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Bockey-Smith of Van Wert; two brothers, Jerry Kroeger of Delphos, and William (Millie) Kroeger of Landeck; fourteen grandchildren, Joanna (Nic) Duquette, George Hurrell III, Christopher, Jonathan (Erin) and Brent (Katie) Nahrwold, Jason (Jen) Bockey, Julie (Ryan) Moenter, Jeanne (Jason) Wehri, Alison (James) Hale, Jeff Maye, Seth and Hannah Bockey, Elizabeth (Nick) Lavelle, and Cortney (Josh) Louge; two step-grandchildren, Alex and Jeffery Odenweller; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth E. Bockey, and Tom Bockey. Anna Jean was a lifelong homemaker.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and the Landeck Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 84. She was a member of Van Wert County Hospital Sewing Group. Anna Jean volunteered for many years at St. John’s Church Festival, and the Mom’s Room at St. John’s School.
She enjoyed canning, sewing, and baking, especially fresh pies, homemade noodles, and angel food cakes. She loved nothing better than to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a CL of C service will be held at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas Edison Center, Van Wert, or Wyngate Senior Living.
